Sustainability at ICG

ICG’s sustainability strategy is supported by LVL’s natural environmental advantages.

ICG’s sustainability strategy is supported by LVL’s natural environmental advantages as highlighted in the LVL Handbook (e.g., traceable renewable wood, carbon storage capacity of 789 kg CO₂ per m³) and aligns with global carbon-neutrality policies referenced in the business plan.

Carbon Reduction Through Engineered Wood

  • LVL emits only a fraction of the carbon footprint of steel (1/15) and concrete (1/10).
  • Each cubic meter of LVL stores 789 kg of CO₂, serving as a long-term carbon sink.

Sustainable Forestry

  • 100% sourced from FSC-certified forests in North America
  • Long-term supply partnerships ensure responsible harvesting

Green Building Innovation

  • Enables low-carbon architecture and meets EU 2030 zero-carbon targets
  • Supports U.S. IRA tax incentive programs for mass-timber buildings

Waste-Free Production Cycle

  • Nearly all by-products (chips, bark, sawdust) are reused for pulp, energy, or secondary products (Handbook p.13–14)
  • Zero waste of wood fiber in LVL production

Future Sustainability Initiatives

  • Development of fire-resistant and ultra-durable engineered wood
  • Exploration of carbon-credit trading for timber buildings
  • Expansion of eco-friendly modular construction solutions
